Only SIX weeks to go until Fanfare 2009: Simply Sinatra. This week we get a little nostalgic with a look back to the good old days.

Auction Item Preview #3
“Ah, The Good Old Days”

Join the Pipitones for a trip down memory lane! On a mutually agreeable Friday night, enjoy a 1950s themed party for six guests. Travel back to a time when calls of “Honey, I’m home” would score you a martini or Tom Collins. The atomic age will come alive again with vintage 1950s recipes (including Renee’s house specialty), records on the hi-fi, and “I Love Lucy” on the TV. But be prepared to grab an apron and help with the dishes…just like home!

50s-party

The 1950s was a prolific time in Frank Sinatra’s recording career. It is considered by many to be his artistic “Golden Years.” No longer the soft voiced balladeer from the Big Band era, what emerged in the 1950s and his recordings for Capitol Records was a more mature and confident singer. Among the many albums he recorded during the 50s, 1955′s In The Wee Small Hours showed a different side of Sinatra–the loner. Along with the title track, In The Wee Small Hours also included “I Get Along Without You Very Well,” “I’ll Be Around,” and “When Your Lover Has Gone.” These songs of love lost were autobiographical for Sinatra and he poured his own heartache over the loss of his marriage to Ava Gardner into this must-have album.

Invitations for Fanfare 2009: Simply Sinatra are going out this week. But if you’d like, you can RSVP online today! Or, make sure you receive an invite by requesting one here.

Until next time…
