Akron Youth Symphony
Fall Concert
Christopher James Lees, music director

“This Akron Youth Symphony concert will surely have everyone on their feet, performing dances from around the world by some of the world’s greatest composers! Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances and the Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 6 forecasts Eastern European violin music we’ll hear at Fiddle Madness (Odyssey Concert No.2). The juxtaposition of the waltzing genius of Johann Strauss’ Tales from Vienna Woods with Sibelius’ eerie and ominous Valse Triste illuminates two sides of a classic dance form. We conclude with the joyously exuberant Symphonic Dances of Norwegian master Edvard Grieg.”
