Picnic Pops
The Akron Symphony Orchestra will present six free concerts throughout the greater Akron area, including stops in Green and Wadsworth, as part of its annual Picnic Pops series. The concerts will run June 23rd through July 11th and sample some of the very best in American popular music, from the epic film scores of Star Wars and Indiana Jones to a tribute to the music of Irving Berlin. Audiences will also be treated to a selection of patriotic favorites and marches from Sousa and Fillmore. A reprise of last season’s stunning Rockwell Reflections by Stella Sung will also be performed.
In addition to the parks concerts, the Akron Symphony will present a special one night only celebration of music from the Great American Songbook at Lock 3 on July 6th featuring jazz singer Helen Welch.
All Akron Symphony summer concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
