For the past 22 years, the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Greater Akron Musical Association (GAMA) and Akron Public Schools have sponsored the Youth Philharmonic, which has provided the opportunity for talented sixth-through tenth-grade students to perform a wide variety of orchestral literature. This orchestra is open to students throughout Summit and surrounding counties. The orchestra is tuition-free, and is an outstanding training orchestra for the Akron Youth Symphony.

Rehearsals are most Tuesdays, beginning the second week of November through the end of January at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts (4:00-5:30 p.m.).
