Summer Music Camp
July 17-22, 2011

Middle and high school musicians will have an opportunity to continue their musical development through an intense yet fun week-long experience. Professional musicians, experienced camp staff, and trained counselors will spend the week with campers as they move through a variety of musical, recreational and educational activities. The week culminates in a concert performance!
Campers will experience:
- Large and small group rehearsals
- Exciting daily workshops
- Individual practice time
- Daily recreational and environmental educational activities
- Fun evening activities and special events
Camp is set in the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center

The summer music camp is ideal for area middle and high school musicians, students of private instructors, and musicians active in their school or community ensembles.
Musicians are required to have prior experience as indicated by reference letter from a private instructor or ensemble director.
Campers will:
- Explore various musical styles
- Develop and hone musical skills
- Meet and make new friends
- Enjoy the surroundings of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Outstanding Musical Faculty
Music faculty is comprised of projessional musicians from the Akron Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Akron area: Music Director, Maestro Eric Benjamin and Camp Director, Akron Symphony violinist Cory Smith.

Campers will benefit musically and socially through their many shared experiences during the week. Camp fee includes overnight housing, all meals, materials and activities
Daily Schedule
All campers will participate in morning, afternoon and evening rehearsals – both full group rehearsals, smaller sectionals, and workshops.

Environmental and Recreational Activities will include:
- Group Nature Hikes
- Team Games
- Swimming

Limited Scholarships available: Requests must include a 5-minute audition audio recording with one major scale, one minor scale and the selection of your choice.
